Precautions:
  • Do not undertake the straightening process if: the hair is very dry, damaged or fragile and if the hair has been treated with henna or metallic salts, has been bleached or highlighted.
  • If the client is allergic to any of the product?s ingredients. If the scalp is very sensitive or presents any alteration or irritation.
  • If you do not have an appropriate prior diagnosis and if you are not sure that the hair will definitely respond well to the treatment.
  • We recommend not using Alissium if the hair is dyed color is level of 8 or lighter.
Before beginning: the hair Analysis to ensure a perfect final result of the straightening treatment, before starting we must consider the following:
  • To undertake a correct hair analysis, the hair must be free of any hair products and in natural conditions. We must check the hair?s elasticity and resistance: If the hair is very dry, one air will break when pulled for testing, and we should not proceed with the straightening process. This way we respect the hair?s natural balance as much as possible.
  • If necessary we will recommend a hair restructuring keratin treatment prior to the straightening process: apply the for 2-3 weeks prior to undertaking the straightening technique. This will restructure the hair as well as its ability to absorb a straightening treatment without risks.
  • We will also diagnose the hairs thickness in order to better determine the appropriate amount of straightening product it use. It is essential to totally saturate the hair with Alissium in order to achieve a greater quality and efficiency of the product.
  • Straightening bleached or highlighted hair should be avoided as during the bleaching process many of the disulphide bridges are destroyed, rendering both process incompatible. (IMPORTANT: you can apply Allisium on dyed hair until level 8).
  • If a soft perm has previously been done we should not straighten the hair so has not cause excessive hair damage. For hair previously straightened we should wait at least 4 months before repeating the technique.
  • The hairs quality needs to be analyzed as well as its porosity and/or damage prior to the treatment in order to being able to compare it with it is state during the straightening process. It is important to check the reaction?s every 5 minutes throughout the entire process in order to control both the hair quality and the straightening process.
  • Not going over the product exposure time is a way to protect the hair?s health and allows us to repeat the work without risk if necessary always before neutralizing.
  • An Alissium spatula is included for smaller and more specific areas such as fringes or sideburns. We suggest washing the spatula after use and keeping it for future applications.
The straightening Process step by step:
  1. Wash the hair:
    • Wash the hair without rubbing the scalp with Anti-residue shampoo to eliminate any product remains from the hair (lacquer, gel, foam, mask, etc.)
    • Blow dry the hair until completely dry without using a brush.

  2. Applying the straightening treatment (straightening cream):
    • Separate de hair into 5 sections.
    • Begin applying the product from the base of the neck in 1 cm thick hair sections, applying the straightening cream directly onto each section and spreading it with your finger tips and with the help of a comb.
    • The product must never come into contact with the scalp so we must make sure we apply it half a centimeter away.
    • If the hair has been previously straightened, we will only apply the straightened; we will only apply the straightening cream on the new grown hair making sure we do not apply it onto the hair previously straightened.
    • Application must be done accurately and dynamically.
    • VerificationThe product exposure time is determined according to the results of the hair analysis undertaken before beginning the process using 15-25 minutes as basic parameters.
    • During the exposure time, we must continuously verify the flexibility of the hair using the elasticity test.
    • After 10-15 minutes of the exposure time we will take on hair, and only one, with the left hand and another one, and also only one, with the right hand at 10-15 cms from the root. Then we will softly stretch the hair in our right hand and check it?s elasticity. When stretching gently we notice that it?s length is double compared to the hair in the left hand, then we have the right moment to wash out the Alissium Straightening Cream, because the process will have come to its limit. If the exposure time of 15 minutes is over and we haven?t reached this double elasticity, we may keep wating (but never exceeding a maximum of 45 minutes). This evaluation always depends on the judgment of the professional stylist and will depend on each hair?s resistance and tenacity.
    • Remove the cream and tie a knot with the hair section.
    • Pull the knot tight. Hold the knot in both hands and try to undo it by pushing both ends of the knot together.
    • If the knot unties, leave the straightening cream on for a little longer and repeat the test 5 minutes later.
    • If the knot stays tied this means the hair has been sufficiently reduced (end of exposure time). Undo the knot with a non-metallic toothed comb.

  3. Rinsing and applying the conditioning treatment:
    • Rinse with plenty of water until all the product has been removed.
    • Then apply the Multivitamin Complex over all the hair and leave on for 15 minutes. Finish by rinsing well with plenty of water.

  4. Drying and preparing for flat iron straightening :
    • After toweling dry the hair we will dry it with a blowdryer always using a brush and always brushing downwards.
    • If before straightening the hair withan iron we feel that the hair is not straight to at least 85%, it will be due to the fact that the disulphide bridges that define the curl have not separated completely.
    • In this case we may repeat the application of the product restarting the process at step n°3.
    • IMPORTANT: always take into consideration the exposure time, the elasticity of the hair and always use Multivitamin complex).
    • The quality of the hair and its resistance also have to be taken seriously at any time.
    • begin the process of straightening since the area of the neck with strands of 1/4 cm. this work must be thorough and professional, without pulling the strand and the temperature the straightening irons does not exceed 180 °.
    • Smooth all the hair with special consideration of the root. Hair must remain smooth as is the final result.
    • Never stop the process, and not keep the straightening iron in the same place more than 3 seconds.
    • Avoid spikes remain curled while ensuring a regular smoothing and treated on the length of hair.
    • if you need to touch up the smoothness of roots, smooth only the new area with the same precision.

  5. Applying the neutralizer:
    • Divide the hair once again into 5 sections. Using a professional hair tint brush, apply the neutralizer starting at the base of the neck and trying to keep the hair resting in a straight position without it twisting into odd shapes.
    • Undertake this step as carefully and precisely as possible.
    • The neutralizer will be left in between 20-30 minutes.
    • Comment: Due to its content of oxidizing agents, the neutralizer could slightly lighten the hair?s initial colour.
    Rinsing the hair:
    • Rinse with plenty of water without washing or applying any kind of conditioner.
    • This prevents interfering with the sealing process of the hair?s disulphide bridges, a process that continues slightly over the following 72 hours.

  6. Finishing effect:
    • To finish, blow dry the hair downwards to achieve a smooth effect.
    Recommendations:
    • Do not wash the hair within 72 hours of the straightening process.
    • Do not tie the hair back with hair bands clips or anything that could affect the new straight effect. If the hair gets wet from perspiration or by accident, dry immediately.
    • We also recommend applying a moisturize mask every week for an ongoing hair repair effect.
    • Do not color dye the hair within the following 7 days or highlight it within the following 15 days.
    • We recommend that under no circumstance the hair is permed after being chemically straightened.
